Valextra Flagship Store in Chengdu, designed by Neri&Hu, won the Special Prize Exterior of Shops & Stores category by The Prix Versailles 2019 in the region of Central Asia And The Northeast.
Other winners in Special Prize Exterior from other continents include: Bulgari Kuala Lumpur by MVRDV, Apple Piazza Liberty Milan by Foster + Partners and Nike House of Innovation 000 in New York by Nike Design Team among a few others.
The Prix Versailles is an annual award dedicated to commercial architecture which was inaugurated in 2015. Discerned at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (abbr. UNESCO) in Paris. It is the world architecture award and encompasses several categories spanning from stores, hotels, shopping malls and restaurants.
71 winners were named in the six Prix regions: Africa and West Asia – Central America, the South and the Caribbean – North America – Central Asia and the Northeast – South Asia and the Pacific – Europe. After a far-reaching call for submissions and a systematic press review, they are now invited to compete for the 12 World Titles (Prix Versailles, Interior and Exterior), with the winners being selected by an independent judges panel and unveiled at the World Finale being held at UNESCO on 12 September 2019.
